Gilgit (PD) In a high level meeting held in Skardu with Power Department G-B, officials of Norwegian Hydropower company expressed it’s will to undertake a survey to build a power stations on River Indus in Baltistan.
The company also expressed it’s interest to work on Kachura Power Project Phase III to increase its capacity.
The meeting was also attended by officials of GB Rural Support Program, Public Works Department.
The meeting discussed the short-term and long-term measures to be taken to prevent the increasing loadshedding in Gilgit-Baltistan, especially Skardu city.
It discussed feasibility of installation of solar panels and necessary steps to be taken in this regard to meet the commercial needs in Skardu city.
On this occasion, minister minister water and power said that G-B government trongly encourages foreign investors to build hydro power houses on the run of the river.
The minister water and power also directed the Secretary Water and Power to speed up the work on Shigharthing, Gawari, Harpo Power Project and follow up on the fund release from the federal government.
