A hashtag calling for taking practical measures in connection with mental health issues and a high trend of suicide cases in Ghizer district of Gilgit-Baltistan became the top Twitter trend in Pakistan for more than 17 hours on Saturday and Sunday.
The hashtag #MuhjeBachao had dropped to second place by the end of a successful Grand Youh Jirga around 04:00 PM.
The hashtag was forwarded more than 10.9 K times by the afternoon on Sunday.
Twitter users tweeted with famous quotes emphasizing happiness and cooperation, love and care for people around.
“The bravest thing I ever did was continuing my life when I wanted to die!” quoted a tweet.
“Agar tumhe apne ird gird andhera dikhai de raha he, tou aik bar dubara dekho, hosakta he tum khud hi Roshni ho”, quoted another.
The Grand Youth Jirga on Mental Health Initiated by Immune Commune Research and Development (ICRD) was held today at district headquarters Ghakuch to deliberate on addressing the issue of increasing suicide cases in the Ghizer district of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Reportedly more than 700 youth across genders along with important government dignitaries, and political and social activists participated in the event.
According to a government survey, there exists a high rate of suicides in the region with the Ghizer district being at the top. In the last 5 years, 229 people reportedly committed suicide with 11 suicide cases in the last month only.
