Gilgit (C.R Akbar Shah): Karakoram International University staff have announced boycott of the education and teaching process from July 31 for not providing salary increment in July.
The decision to strike was taken in a meeting of the Academic Staff Association (ASA), Management Staff Association (MSA), Clerical Staff Association (CSA), Technical Staff Association (TSA), and Lower Staff Association (LSA) of Gilgit (P) on Tuesday.
According to the decision, the teaching staff will boycott the classes for an indefinite period from July 31 and the administrative staff will leave their work till the disbursement of salary increment.
According to the university staff, living in the current era of inflation has become difficult and non-payment of salary increment is not acceptable at all cost.
After the announcement of the strike by the employees, it has also been decided not to conduct the final term exams of the spring semester starting from Monday. In case of non-conduct of the exams, there is a fear of protest by the students.
