Gilgit (Press note): An important meeting took place between the officials of Ismaili Regional Council and Deputy Commissioner Gilgit at his office on Wednesday. The additional superintendent of police Gilgit also participated in the meeting.
While addressing the meeting, DC Gilgit said the security is on high alert to ensure peace and tranquility during the Muharram ul Haram. Similarly, arrangements related to checking both at the entrance and exit points of the city have been put in place.
He said maintaining religious harmony is a collective responsibility. Those sharing hateful content on social media will be dealt with strictly.
The DC Gilgit requested the Ismaili Regional Council to cooperate with the administration in maintaining peace during the month of Muharram.
On this occasion, the president of Ismaili Regional Council assured cooperation to make Muharram ul Haram peaceful. It is the duty of all of us to express our grief in the Holy month of Muharram said the council president.
He said the Ismaili Regional Council has also met religious leaders Agha Rahat and Qazi Nisar in connection with maintaining peace during Muharram ul Haram.
He further said the Boys Scouts of Ismaili Regional Council will clean the routes of the procession and install sabil.
In a public message the DC Gilgit has also appealed to the public to keep an eye on suspicious people and immediately contact the administration’s control room number 05811-920724 in case of any emergency.
