Gilgit (PR): Islami Tehreek-e-Pakistan (ITP) has decided to initiate a comprehensive communication campaign against the increase in wheat prices in Gilgit-Baltistan.
In this context, Chairman Coordination Committee Islamic Itehad G-B, Shaikh Mirza, and senior leader Ayub Waziri held discussions with key figures from various political, religious, social, and public organizations on Saturday.
During the meeting, the potential public challenges arising from the hike in wheat prices were discussed in detail.
A firm commitment was expressed to actively participate in the Islamic Movement of Pakistan’s protest against the wheat price increase.
During the meting, Sheikh Mirza Ali said the people of Gilgit-Baltistan have rejected the rise in wheat prices.
He criticized the G-B government’s determination to economically burden the poor to appease the federal government, equating the price hike to subjecting the poor to starvation. He emphasized such decisions would be thwarted through the power of the public.
It was unanimously decided that a protest and sit-in would be held on the Karakoram Highway in District Nagar on January 1 to oppose the wheat price increase.
Sheikh Mirza Ali and Member of the Assembly Gilgit-Baltistan, Ayub will meet various political, social, religious, and public organizations in Waziri Nagar and Hooper on Sunday to apprise them of the issues stemming from the wheat price hike.
