Gilgit (Akbar Shah): Under the direction of the Secretary of Information Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B), a team from the Information Department G-B conducted inspections of various newspaper offices in Gilgit City.
Headed by Information Officer G-B Asif Raza, the inspections aimed to examine compliance with media laws and regulations, verify adherence to minimum salary requirements for employees, ensure responsible journalism practices, promote the development of the media industry, and protect the rights of working journalists.
The team reviewed documents, interviewed staff, and assessed operational practices. The staff at the different newspaper office demonstrated cooperation as they provided access to records and facilities.
According to the inspection team, the findings and recommendations will be shared with newspapers and the public with an aim to strengthen the media industry and safeguard journalists’ rights.
The inspection team also included Information Officer Naveed Iqbal, Legal Advisor Mumtaz Wali, Photographer Shahid Karim, and Labor Inspector Muntazir Abbas from the Minerals, Industries, Commerce, and Labour Department.
