In a session of the Disciplinary Committee, Gilgit-Baltistan Bar Council on Thursday in Gilgit city, the lawyers expressed their reservations about government employees engaging with people in lawyer’s dress.
According to the president GB Bar Council, they have observed some people associated with police and other government departments dealing with people in lawyers’ uniforms both within and outside courts in GB. He said this act of disguising as a lawyer is illegal and punishable according to the law.
Talking to Ibex Times, Manzoor Hussain advocate, chairman of Gilgit-Baltistan Bar Council condemned the misuse of lawyer’s attire by people outside the legal fraternity. He vowed to take action against such elements.
He said Bar council officials would ask the relevant departments to take action against their employees. In case, the concerned departments did not take it seriously, the bar council will issue notices to the law enforcement agencies and concerned departments for action against such notorious elements.
Ibex Times also talked to president Gilgit Headquarters Bar, Arif Nazir’s advocate to know his views on the issue. According to Arif Nazir, the bar council and the court have been informed of this matter to take steps to take action against such elements who tarnish the image of lawyers through their fraudulent actions.
