Federal governments ask G-B to limit wheat subsidy

Gilgit (C. R. Akbar Shah): The federal government has refused to increase the wheat subsidy for Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) by Rs. 2 Billion which it had sanctioned the previous month.

The federation has asked informed the G-B government to limit the wheat subsidy and increase the prices of the flour.

According to the details, last month the federal government had issued a notification about increasing two billion rupees in terms of wheat subsidy to Gilgit-Baltistan. However, now the federal government has refused to implement its decision and has refused to increase the two billion rupees for now.

It is pertinent to note that there is a severe wheat crisis in G-B. In a scramble for flour bags, the people are fighting at the flour sale point in Gilgit city and other areas.

Citizens say that they have already become mentally ill due to skyrocketing prices of daily needs. In such a situation, if the price of wheat is increased, it will be equivalent to dropping a hydrogen bomb on them.
