Gilgit (PR): Deputy Speaker Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly (GBLA) Sadia Danish presided over an important meeting with the officials of Department of Social Welfare, Women Development and the Department of Law on Thursday.
Addressing the meeting, Sadia Danish said there is an urgent need to take serious measures for the protection of women rights in Gilgit-Baltistan for which full implementation of all laws approved by the GBLA would be ensured.
She directed the Assembly Secretariat to issue written instructions to all the departments to implement the approved law to prevent harassment of women at workplace.
She further said unfortunately mental health is being badly neglected in Gilgit-Baltistan. Ignoring one person’s growing mental health problems later affects the entire family and society.
She directed the Department of Social Welfare and department of Women Development to take practical steps in this regard for which all possible support will be provided.
On this occasion, secretary Social Welfare and women development Fida Hussain give a detailed presentation to deputy speaker about performance of his departments.
While giving the briefing he said the department has assured that practical work will be done in this regard. .
Deputy Speaker Sadia Danish assured the department to extend all possible cooperation in solving the problems of women at governmental level.
