Gilgit (PR): In a statement issued to the media on Tuesday, Contractor Association Gilgit-Baltistan has called the disbursement of Rs. 2 billion insufficient.
According to the statement, the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan is already owing Rs. 9 billion to the contractors now. In such a situation, approval of only Rs. 2 billion is equivalent to making fun of the contractors and people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Due to increasing inflation, the prices of construction materials have reached the sky and the contractors are in dire straits. In such a situation, the government should immediately release 9 billion rupees to the contractors, said the statement.
The Contractor’s Association G-B has called on the federal and Gilgit-Baltistan governments to address the contractors’ issues on a priority basis because small contractors and their families are facing the worst sort of economic conditions.
