Gilgit (PR): Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) Khalid Khurshid inaugurated Maikal Water Supply Scheme, Khushnat Road, Shankong RCC Bridge Road, and Rs. 370 billion Astore Valley Road including Shontar Road during his visit to his home district Astore on Sunday.
It is pertinent to note that the construction of Astore Valley Road was a long-standing demand of the local people. Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid has fulfilled this demand of the public in his first two and a half years.
The project is expected to usher in a new era of tourism and trade in the Astore district and provide better travel facilities to the people.
Astore Valley Road will connect Gilgit-Baltistan to Islamabad via Muzaffarabad after the completion of the Shontar Tunnel project in the future.
This project is an important part of Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid’s vision of connecting Gilgit-Baltistan with Islamabad through 3 alternative routes.
On the same footings, work is also underway on Rs. 50 billion worth of Ghizer Expressway which is the second mega project of Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid.
Astore Valley Road is very important to connect Gilgit, Astore, and Diamir with Baltistan Division and Shagharting project site.
