Gilgit (PR): Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Haji Gulbar Khan chaired an important session in connection with the financial challenges confronting Karakoram International University (KIU) on Monday.
The meeting was attended by the Special Assistant to CM G-B on Information Iman Shah, Special Assistant for Irrigation Hussain Shah, Special Assistant for Youth Affairs Zabiullah, Additional Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Captain Retired Mushtaq Ahmed, Vice Chancellor Karakoram International University Attaullah Shah, Registrar KUI, Secretary Higher Education Gilgit-Baltistan, Secretary to Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Haji Sanaullah and other senior officials.
Speaking at the session, Chief Minister G-B, Haji Gulbar Khan, said KIU holds an invaluable position as the highest educational institution in region.
The Chief Minister G-B reassured the university delegation that G-B government is fully aware of the financial problems confronting the university and is committed to taking all necessary measures to resolve these issues.
He noted that during his recent visit to G-B, the Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan was apprised of financial hardships of KIU.
He further said that a committee, comprising provincial ministers, will promptly make concrete recommendations for the redressal of the crisis stemming from the recent fee hike.
The Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan asked the Vice-Chancellor and other administrative officers of the university to continue joint efforts at the federal and provincial levels to end the financial crisis to come out of the financial problems.
The Chief Minister G-B urged the Vice-Chancellor and other university administrative officials to maintain joint efforts both at the federal and G-B levels to overcome the financial crisis of the university.
