Chief Minister G-B Haji Gulbar Vows Accelerated Development and Enhanced Oversight of Projects in the Region

Gilgit (PR): After attending a briefing from Secretary Planning and Development on Wednesday, the Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) said his government is committed to accelerated development projects across Gilgit-Baltistan. Similarly, special attention would be given to the development of remote and less advanced districts in the region.

The Chief Minister of G-B stated the government would minimize throw forward to ensure timely completion of development projects. Efforts will be made to gradually decrease the differences among districts in the area. The government will ensure share of all districts in Gilgit-Baltistan level schemes.

He said, in his recent meeting, he has requested the Prime Minister for the approval of fund allocation, dividing it into two quarters. The PM has assured increase the allocation of ADPs and PSDPs along with improvement in process of fund release.

The CM also assured to reduce the power crisis in Gilgit-Baltistan as a top priority of the government.  Directives have been issued to the department of water and power to present recommendations on the matter during the upcoming cabinet meeting.

CM G-B further said despite the federal government’s transfer of authority over the Principal Accounting Officer of PSDP projects to the province, there hasn’t been noticeable progress in the speed of these projects.  To address this concern, a decision has been made to review the progress of PSDP projects at the level of the Additional Chief Secretary, added the Chief Minister.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister said there would be a quarterly review meeting at the Chief Minister level regarding the quality and speed of PSDP projects.

On this occasion, the Provincial Secretary of Planning and Development presented a detailed overview to the Chief Minister, regarding the annual development program, PSDP, and the relevant department.
