Gilgit (PR): The Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan has appointed the delimitation authorities to carry out the delimitation ahead of the local bodies elections announced to take place later this year.
According to the notification of the Public Relations Department of Election Commission G-B, the District and Sessions Judges of all 10 districts of Gilgit-Baltistan will supervise the delimitation process.
According to the notification, Chief Election Commissioner G-B Raja Shehbaz Khan appointed the delimitation authorities in compliance with Section-223(2) of the Elections Act 2017, Rule-20 of “Elections Rules 2017” and as per the recommendation of the Chief Justice Chief Court Gilgit-Baltistan.
The delimitation committees would be consisting of district and session judges across Gilgit-Baltistan, further stated the notification.
The Delimitation Authorities will hear any appeal or objection related to delimitation carried out by the Constituency Committee to ensure fair and transparent local elections.
The Election Commission G-B has appointed Deputy Commissioners of all the districts of the three divisions of the region as conveners and Deputy Directors of LG&RD and Assistant Commissioner Headquarters of each district as members to complete the delimitation process.
The Election Commission G-B has appealed to the public to cooperate with the appointed committees to ensure a clean, transparent, and fair elections.
