Dozens of students were hospitalized in Gilgit-Baltistan soon after they were administered deworming tablets

Gilgit (C.R. Akbar Shah): A vaccination team led by a non-governmental organization visited schools on Tuesday in Gilgit town and surrounding villages and gave deworming tablets as part of the nationwide campaign. Soon after the administration of the tablets, some students complained of headaches and vomiting and fell unconscious.

The affected students were rushed to the hospital for treatment. According to the hospital sources, their condition was out of danger.

When contacted, the health department expressed its ignorance over the incident and stated that it was not consulted by the NGO regarding deworming campaign.

Talking to the correspondent of Ibex Times, minister health GB, Haji Gulber said action would be taken against the NGO and those involved for risking the lives of students.

The parents of children have demanded from Supreme Appellate Court and Chief court to take sou-moto action against the responsible people.
