Gilgit (Staff reporter): A delegation of Chinese traders and the Xinjiang Chamber of Commerce visited Gilgit Baltistan and met Chief Minister G-B.
The delegation showed interest in the import of fruits especially cherry from G-B to China. The meeting was also attended by the officials of the Gilgit-Baltistan Chamber of Commerce, ministers, high-level officials, and others.
Several MoUs on the promotion of tourism and fruit export were signed between the chambers of both of the neighboring countries.
While speaking on the occasion, chief minister G-B said that the visit of representatives of the Xinjiang Chamber of Commerce and Traders will help to promote trade between the two provinces of neighboring states. Chambers of Commerce and Traders of both Xinjiang and Gilgit-Baltistan need to deepen the cooperation to promote bilateral trade between the two regions.
On behalf of his government in G-B, the chief minister pledged to provide all possible support to both the chambers and traders. He also appreciated the proposal of Xinxiang province to establish the G-B Pavilion in Xinjiang for the promotion of tourism in G-B.
He said soon he expects to visit China during which his government will sign agreements for the promotion of bilateral trade between the two regions. Measures will be taken to attract Chinese tourists to Gilgit-Baltistan as well, said CM G-B.
A special authority can also be established to promote trade between Xinjiang and Gilgit-Baltistan on a large scale and to facilitate the traders to resolve the difficulties they face, further added the CM G-B.
