Gilgit (PR): Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) Khalid Khurshid formally inaugurated the Regional Center of College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) in Gilgit City on Monday.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the chief minister said all major hospitals in G-B have been given the status of teaching hospitals. Similarly, hospitals in all regional headquarters have been made functional.
He said the G-B government is introducing reforms in the health sector which now have started to benefit the people. The government is also establishing a medical city in the Manawar area of the Gilgit district for which the government has already allocated 1,000 canals of land, added CM Khalid Khurshid.
According to CM G-B, a nursing college and medical college is also being established in Gilgit-Baltistan. Moreover, work is also going on to establish Hospital 7in the province on the patterns of PIMS and Jinnah Hospital.
Muhammad Khalid Khurshid further said the establishment of the regional center of CPSP in Gilgit will help in quality treatment of patients and research in the field of medicine in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Chief Minister G-B distributed certificates among the participants of the training workshop organized by CPSP on this occasion.
It is pertinent to note that May 1st has become an important day for the public health sector in Gilgit-Baltistan. It is a day of the fulfillment of the most important promise of Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid and a very historic day for the health sector of Gilgit-Baltistan.
The regional office of the country’s renowned institution ‘the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP)’ has been established.
With this new development, now the doctors from G-B and across the country can receive higher medical education from here. They will get post graduate training and will not have to go to other cities. FCPS exams will also be held online here.
Likewise, conducting postgraduate training will help ensure 24-hour availability of doctors in major hospitals of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Thus the establishment of CPSP in Gilgit is a very important and historical initiative in the history of Gilgit-Baltistan to improve health sector and ensure availability of treatment in government hospitals.
