Rawalpindi (PR): The chief secretary of Gilgit-Baltistan Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani visited headquarters of Special Communication Organization (SCO) in Rawalpindi on Monday.
During the meeting, chief secretary G-B had a detailed meeting with SCO team led by DG SCO major general Muhammad Shahid Siddeeq. The meeting was also attended by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Universal Service Fund Pakistan (USF) Haris Chaudhry.
The purpose of the meeting was to improve internet connectivity in G-B by resolving the issues that people face in underserved areas of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Chief secretary and CEO SCO discussed areas where GB government and SCO can collaborate in the ongoing Information Technology projects.
One of the important outcomes of this meeting was SCO agreed to be part of IT facilitation projects in education and health sectors of Gilgit-Baltistan.
The SCO team applauded the exclusive and timely efforts of GB government in IT sector to equip the education and health sector catering to the emerging technological needs.
In the meeting the SCO assured its commitment to play its role in the establishment of IT Parks in Gilgit-Baltistan. SCO also reaffirmed its commitment to the connectivity facilitation of education and Tele-Health accoss Gilgit-Baltistan.
During the meeting, chief secretary and CEO SCO also agreed to to explore digital payment options for pension and salary accounts in Gilgit-Baltstan
