G-B police to use speed guns on KKH in the face of increasing road accidents

Gilgit (Correspondent): Deputy Commissioner District Diamer Fayyaz Ahmed while talking to the media announced to introduce speed guns and a new traffic regulation team on KKH in the face of increasing road accidents claiming a huge toll on human lives.

While talking to the media he said the introduction of speed gun technology is aimed at ensuring the safety of passengers on the Karakoram Highway. The traffic police of G-B will ban all vehicles on the highway exceeding speed beyond 45 Km/hour.

Two teams made of Diamer police and excise police G-B will be entrusted with the responsibility perform regular speed check of vehicle on KKH within the area of the Diamir district.

He said the traffic regulation team will check the speed of the vehicles using speed guns at various locations without any compromise. All HD lights and fancy lights have been completely banned to make night travel safe.

Under the new measures, the number of riders has also been determined. The number of riders including the driver on the coaster will be 25. The number of passengers including the driver on the bus will be 45/46, said the DC Diamer.

He further said the number of passengers including the driver will be 18. In case of violation, on-the-spot punishment, fines and confiscation of the vehicle will be implemented. These measures will be strictly followed and no exemption will be given to anyone.
