Gilgit (Bureau chief): Secretary food Momin Jan took charge of the food department Gilgit-Baltistan on Monday.
After assuming his responsibilities, he took a detailed briefing from the director and assistant director food on the availability and distribution of wheat and flour.
The secretary food asked district heads of the food department for a complete list of consumers within 48 hours. He mandated the district heads to ensure the punctuality of the officials of the food department.
The secretary advised the food department officials to ensure the distribution of flour and wheat to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan cleanly and transparently as per the official price list.
He issued orders and said that strict legal action will be taken against any government officials found to manipulate the distribution of flour or wheat.
Moreover, the new secretary formed teams at sub-division, district, and secretariat levels to monitor strictly by visiting check posts and cell points. The committees would have the powers to take disciplinary action against the violators.
He appealed to the public to cooperate with the monitoring teams so that the available wheat and flour can reach them cleanly and transparently.
