Gilgit (C. R. Akbar Shah): The Water and Power department, GB has failed to achieve its set target of revenue generation from electric bills. The department has recovered Rs. 0.84 billion from a set target of Rs. 1 billion.
Sources told Ibex times here on Saturday that having failed in meeting its set target, the department now has decided to initiate a stringent crackdown on power defaulters.
According to sources privy to the development, smart meters would be installed on an immediate basis indiscriminately.
Legal action will be taken against power defaulters and those involved in power theft including cutting off the power supply lines.
