Gilgit (PR): An important meeting regarding the role of social media between the media persons and the Secretary Information Gilgit-Baltistan took place on Tuesday in Gilgit.
The meeting discussed the responsibilities of the social and digital media in promotion of inter-faith harmony during Muharram in G-B.
While addressing the meeting, the Secretary Information Zameer Abbas put emphasis on responsible reporting in the promotion of peace.
He urged upon discouraging such elements that spread sectarianism, violence, and religious hatred.
He urged to highlighting the positive image of G-B by projecting and promoting intercultural and interfaith harmony in G-B.
Media should play the role of a bridge to promote mutual tolerance among different sections of society, urged Zameer Abbas.
The media persons pledged to keep doing responsible reporting in addressing issues related to hate speech and hate content.
The participants included Ashraf Ashoor, Esa Haleem, Basharat Hussain, Shahzad Hussain, Basharat Hussain, Mohammad Zakir, Nazakat Ali, Waseem Baigal,Faheem Akhtar, and Irfan.
