 Scholarship coverage

Italian Government Scholarship have multiple benefits as mentioned below:

1. Health/Medical Insurance

Selected students will receive health and accident insurance from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) for the entire grant period. This insurance does not cover issues related to pre-existing health issues.

2. Tuition Fees

The selected students might not have to pay enrolment and tuition fees, depending on the university’s rules. However, they will still need to pay fees for Italian language and culture courses.

3. Financial Grant

The selected students will get a monthly allowance of 900 Euros, paid every three months into their Italian bank account.

Requirements for Italian Government Scholarships

The eligibility criteria to apply for the Italian Government Scholarship for International students is as follows:

Language proficiency for different academic programs

1. The applicants should be fluent in both written and spoken English.
2. Applicants need to present a language certificate demonstrating their English proficiency. The required minimum level is B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
3. You don’t need to show proficiency in Italian if your courses are entirely taught in English.
4. Applicants for Italian language and culture courses must present a certificate demonstrating their proficiency in Italian. The required minimum level is A2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
5. To gain admission to an Italian AFAM Institute, applicants must fulfill the entry requirements and academic qualifications set by the respective university or institute.

Age criteria for Maters & Ph.D. programs

1. Applicants for Master’s Degree, Arts, Music, and Dance Programs, as well as Italian Language and Culture Courses, must be under 28 years old by the application deadline, except for renewals.
2. Applicants for PhD Programs must be under 30 years old by the deadline, except for renewals.
3. Applicants for research projects under academic supervision must be under 40 years old by the deadline.

Qualification required for Masters program

To enter the first year of a Master’s Degree program, applicants must have finished their Bachelor’s degree in their home country. For the second year, admission is given based on proof of progress in the first year’s studies.

Residential criteria

Only foreign students residing outside Italy are eligible to submit applications.

Acceptance letters

For admission to a PhD program in Italy, applicants must meet the entry requirements and academic qualifications set by the university. Additionally, they must provide a letter of acceptance from the relevant Italian university.

Research Grants at Italian Institutions

Grants for research under academic supervision are available for projects conducted at renowned Italian research institutions, such as:
