Pakistan Muslim League (N) Gilgit-Baltistan has demanded from Prime Minister Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif to appoint someone from within the party’s local setup. The demand was made by PML(N) leaders i.e. former speaker GBLA Jafarullah Khan, Riaz Ahmad, and others in a party meeting held on Thursday in Gilgit city.
PML(N) leader said the constitutional position of Governorship in GB is vacant for the last two months which is literally an injustice to the people of the area.
They said the senior party leaders will nominate a name after consultation. The nominated would be fully supported for the slot of governorship in GB. A person with a track record of sacrifices and supporting the narrative of Nawaz Sharif should be appointed governor GB. Such an act of decision would encourage on one hand and will revive the party on the other hand.
The senior leaders of PMLN believed their party deserved the right to the governorship in GB as Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Jamiat Ulma-e-Islam are occupying slots at the center. Appointing someone from outside the local setup will not be accepted by PML(N) GB.
PML(N) senior demanded from Prime Minister, Shahbaz Sharif, Secretary General PML (N) Ahas Iqbal, vice president Maryam Nawaz and former chief minister GB Hafiz Hafeezur Rahman to form a panel to determine the appointment of a party leader on the vacant position of the governor. In this regard, names of important party leaders for governorship will be sent to the prime minister, etc.
