Ghizer (Nurulhuda Yaftali): In an important meeting held in the Tehsil headquarters of Gupis, Ghizer, the notables of upper Ghizer demanded an immediate halt to construction on the world’s highest polo ground, Shandor by Chitral scouts and their removal with Gilgit-Baltistan Scouts.
The meeting was attended by Sarfraz Shah (former MLA GB), Khan Akbar Khan, Shamsulhaq Nawazish, Advocate Sher Hawas, Qari Ghulam Akbar, Nambardar Abdullah Jan, Mir Wali Khan, Shah Hussain Shah, Alhaj Abdul Hanan, veteran teacher Muhammad Alam Khan and others.
A coordination committee was formed in the meeting to mobilize people against the intrusion of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa into Gilgit-Baltistan’s part of Shandor top where the world’s known polo ground is located.
It was unanimously decided in the meeting that a call will be given to march toward Shandor if the constructions are not halted immediately. They demanded the GB government to awake from its deep slumber and play its primary role to check intrusion into the geographical areas of GB.
Ibex Times talked to Sarfraz Shah, former Member of Legislative Assembly Gilgit-Baltistan to enquire about his views on the recent constructions undertaken by Chitral Scouts. Talking to Ibex Times, Sarfraz hah said Shandor is a pasture of local people from Phander to Barsat valleys of Gilgit-Baltistan. We will resist KPK’s intrusion into our lands with full force till the last breath, said Sarfraz Shah.
