Gilgit (C.R. Akbar Shah): On Thursday, Home Department G-B issued a statement refuting the authenticity of specific images that have been circulating on social media platforms.
According to the statement, the images being circulated are shared by malicious elements attempting to distort the facts.
The images date back to 2018 when a mock security rehearsal was conducted by the Pakistan Army, local police, and Gilgit-Baltistan Scouts to prepare for emergency and critical situations, said the statement.
According to the home department, the decision to carry out these drills in 2018 was taken against the backdrop of threats issued by terrorists targeting educational institutions in the region. Mock rehearsals were organized to enhance the readiness of security forces and ensure swift response during potential emergencies.
The university spokesperson also have denounced the misinterpretation of the images by certain on social media.
According to the university’s spokesperson, the images are being combined with false narratives to confuse the general public by some individuals, including a few students, who are attempting to exploit the situation for their personal gain and to tarnish the positive image of the university and the region.
According to the university, a formal request has been filed with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to take immediate action against individuals involved in spreading false propaganda and fake news on social media platforms.
