Gilgit (PR): Presided over by the chief minister Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B), high-level meeting decides to deploy army in G-B in wake of the situation created after a provocative speech made by Maulana Qazi Nisar in a religious rally on Friday.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary G-B, Interior Secretary G-B, IGP G-B and officials of sensitive institutions.
The meeting decided that army will be called Gilgit-Baltistan with the primary objective of ensuring peace. Additionally, it was decided to station Rangers, G-B Scouts, and FC personnel in major cities of Gilgit-Baltistan.
During the meeting, it was also decided that legal action would be taken against instances of disrespect towards the beliefs and revered figures of any religion during public gatherings.
It was affirmed in the meeting that the government is committed to upholding law and order and ensuring the uninterrupted flow of tourism activities under any circumstances. To this end, the Home Department of Gilgit-Baltistan immediately imposed Section 144 to prohibit unauthorized gatherings and road blockages.
The provincial government also affirmed its commitment to dealing with any kind of violation strictly.
The government of Gilgit-Baltistan is working to maintain the peace in the region. It urges people to show unity and concord and demonstrate brotherhood.
The meeting expressed it hope that the people will reject any kind of mischief that harms the atmosphere of the country, with law enforcement agencies fully prepared to respond resolutely to those who seek to disrupt the peace.
The provincial government is closely monitoring elements who spread hatred through social media and other means. All the institutions of the provincial government are on alert and vigilant to hold those to peace accountable. The meting also hoped the people will continue to cooperate in the future to maintain peace by rejecting hatred and violence.
