G-B Government Briefs Journalists on Security Situation in Gilgit-Baltistan

Gilgit (PR): Special Advisor for Information Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B), Imaan Shah gave detailed briefing for local journalists on the current security situation of the region and initiatives taken by the government.

During the briefing, he said a delegation of prominent religious scholars is on G-B visit from other parts of Pakistan on the call of GB government. Positive developments including the restoration of internet services will take place very soon, said Iman Shah.

He said the G-B government is considering all available options to enhance security in the region.

Information Advisor further said that soon after the chehlum, Chief Minister Haji Gilber Khan would give a special briefing on the government’s future priorities and practical actions.

Shah added, Gilgit-Baltistan continues to maintain a state of normalcy. He also noted that significant gatherings and processions have occurred in the past without any recorded incidents.

Strict security measures had been put in place for Chehlum (the 40th day of Imam Hussain’s martyrdom), highlighting the government’s foremost responsibility of maintaining peace and security in the region, Shah said.

Shah emphasized that while historic gatherings and processions in Gilgit-Baltistan had been subjected to propaganda attempts by neighboring India, the local population had thwarted every such attempt.

Instead of succumbing to external pressures, the people of Gilgit-Baltistan had demonstrated remarkable resilience, with journalists playing a pivotal role in responsible reporting, stated Shah.

While appreciating the local journalists, Shah said local journalists in Gilgit-Baltistan have consistently demonstrated responsible journalism, contributing to an overall improved situation. Their commitment to ethical reporting, both in social media and traditional print media, has brought the community together, allowing us all to gather here today, he further added.

Imaan Shah concluded by saying that journalists have always carried the responsibility of contributing to society’s betterment, and the government expects them to continue their positive role in Gilgit-Baltistan’s peace and security.
