G-B Legislative Assembly forms committee in connection with revision of mineral policy and Nasirabad sit-in

People of Nasirabad are on sit-in against mining in violation of local customs

Gilgit (C.R. Akbar Shah): A committee has been formed to deal with the Nasirabad sit-in and revise the mineral policy in G-B. The committee will be headed by Deputy Speaker G-B Legislative Assembly Nazir Ahmad advocate.

Opposition leader in GBLA Amjad Hussain advocate, Senior minister Obaidullah Baigh, Minister Forest GB Raja Zakaria, Minister Finance GB Javed Ali Manwa, Haji Gulbar, and Suraya Zaman will be the members of the committee.

In a debate in the GBLA session on sit-ins in Nasirabad Hunza and Gilgit city, the members of the assembly said that road blockage owing to sit-ins and floods has locked the whole region. Consequently, people along with tourists are facing severe problems in travel and commuting.

While speaking in the session, the GBLA members emphasized on the resolution of the problems related to land grabbing and mining in violation of local customs. They also emphasized taking serious but immediate steps to address the demands of the people on a sit-in in Gilgit city for the release of their incarcerated dear and near ones.

The opposition members critized Chief Minister for his absence in the session and held the GB government’s incompetence responsible for the issues that currently have grabbed the whole region.
