Gilgit (PR): Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) government has imposed a complete ban on wheat transportation outside the province aiming to ensure transparent and equitable distribution of subsidized wheat to the people.
According to an official statement from G-B Government, the Police Department has been directed to keep constant surveillance along both internal and external routes, with specific emphasis on areas such as Thor, Babusar, and Ghizer.
Police also has been instructed to take a strict legal action against individuals engaged in the illegal activity of wheat smuggling. and initiate a grand operation against those who are involved in wheat smuggling.
Likewise, the food department has received directions to crack down against the elements involved in wheat smuggling in close collaboration with the district administration and the police department. Moreover, the Secretary Food G-B has been tasked to formulate proposals for the equitable distribution of the subsidized wheat.
In the press release, the G-B government has appealed to the people to help identify individuals involved in the illegal transportation and hoarding of wheat which is crucial to guarantee a fair distribution of wheat.
