Gilgit: Federal government has assured Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khursheed of the reversal of the proposed deduction in the annual developmental budget of the region.
In this regard, an important meeting of CM GB Khalid Khursheed with Advisor Kashmir and GB Affairs Qamar Zaman Kaira, Minister Finance Miftah Ismail, and Minister Development and Planning took place on Tuesday in Islamabad.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan made it clear that GB cannot afford a cut in its annual budget owing to its special status, geostrategic significance, and poor economic conditions. He stressed upon the federal government to ensure uninterrupted provision of development and regular funds allocated for the region.
During the meeting, Minister Finance, Miftah Ismail, and Federal Minister Development and Planning assured CM GB Khalid Khursheed of the reversal of any proposed cut and release of funds as per last year’s allocation.
According to sources, another important meeting would be held between CM GB Khalid and the federal government in connection with the regular budget allocation for GB.
