Stop confiscating people’s lands in the name of Khalisa Sarkar in G-B, demands Shia gathering

Shia gathering in connection with 18th death anniversary of Agha Ziauddin Shaheed

Gilgit (correspondent): A grand Shia gathering in Markazi Imamia masjid Gilgit warned the administration to avoid confiscating lands in G-B in the name of Khalisa sarkar.

The demand was made in a resolution unanimously passed in a gathering at Markazi Imamia masjid Gilgit in connection with the 18th death anniversary of Shia cleric Agha Ziauddin Rizvi Shaheed.

The condolence gathering was attended by thousands of believers, scholars, and elders from all over Gilgit-Baltistan.

The resolution passed by the gathering contains the following demands:

  • Transparent and scientific-based investigation should be undertaken to arrest operatives of banned organizations involved in Shia-linked tragedies in Kohistan, Chilas, Lulusar, etc.
  • All sectarian and controversial content be removed from the government curriculum and made acceptable to all schools of thought.
  • Recently passed controversial criminal amendment bill should be rejected by the president in order to save the country from any crisis.
  • Avoid confiscating people’s lands in the name of Khalisa Sarkar. Any such attempt would be resisted with full force.
  • take concrete steps on immediate basis to bring Gilgit-Baltistan under constitutional ambit thus putting an end to the 70 years of deprivation of G-B people.
  • Initiate fair and transparent investigation into recent Yadgar Chowk tragedy and bring the real culprits to book.
  • Confer an award on Iqrar Hussain shaheed for his examplary role for peace and humanity.
  • Steps should be taken to get approval for the Astor to Muzaffarabad section of Shunter Pass to connect Gilgit-Baltistan with other provinces through land.
  • Restore implementation of merit in appointment in high judicial service tribunal, Karakoram International University, etc. without any religious or regional bias.
